Iranian director Varzi condemns Kabul school blast

Prominent Iranian filmmaker Mohammad-Reza Varzi has condemned the latest bomb attack that targeted schoolgirls in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

According to Fars News Agency, Varzi described the Saturday’s bombing as an “inhuman and sad tragedy”.

He also offered his condolences to Afghanistan’s people and the victims’ parents.

“I also express solidarity with Afghanistan’s honorable people who have always made achievements alongside other Muslims in the fight against Daesh [terrorist group], particularly the victims’ fathers and mothers in mourning,” Varzi said on Wednesday.

“Nowadays, child murder in Muslim countries has become an ugly public crisis,” he added.

On Saturday, a blast took place in front of a school in the Shia majority neighborhood of Dasht-e-Barchi in western Kabul when the girls were leaving the school. The blast left tens killed.

The 48-year-old director, Varzi, has made the TV series ‘House of Outsiders’, ‘Tabriz in Fog’, and ‘The Enigma of the Shah’, which were aired on iFilm English TV Channel.

He has also directed several movies, including ‘Abraham, Friend of Allah’ and ‘The Story of Mozaffar’.
